Philip is Director of Spatial Planning and GIS/Remote Sensing at Daemeter Consulting, armed with more than 20 years of experience in environmental issues in Indonesia. He is a GIS and landscape ecology specialist with a master’s degree in Ecology and Environmental Management from the University of York, United Kingdom.

Philip has lived in Indonesia since 1992, working with government and non-government organizations for the conservation of large mammals and their habitat. In recent years, he has focused primarily on biodiversity conservation outside of Indonesia’s protected areas, working with industry and local governments in the development of action plans, land use planning, and High Conservation Value (HCV) assessment and management. He was an active participant in the development of the revised HCV Toolkit for Indonesia.

Philip is an RSPO-approved HCV assessor and team leader and as a director at Daemeter, he is a member of the RSPO. He also serves as an advisor to the Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program (BBOP) and a collaborator to KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Joint Study Group on REDD+. Philip has completed Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) certification training on sustainability reporting.
