Have Jurisdictional Approaches to sustainability been effective so far in Indonesia? What are the main challenges and lessons so far?

Daemeter releases a new report commissioned by The Packard Foundation to take stock of progress to date in implementing Jurisdictional Approaches (JA) to advance sustainability throughout Indonesia. Led by Blair Palmer, the team conducted >60 interviews with stakeholders from local and national government, private sector, civil society organizations, development organizations and JA practitioners across Indonesia.

The study identifies:

  • main areas where progress has been made to build JA platforms and advance shared objectives
  • common challenges encountered on the ground to achieve measurable impact
  • lessons learned to strengthen existing JAs on the ground and support new ones in other geographies.

The findings and recommendations address topics of how to deepen stakeholder commitment to JAs, human rights and accountability issues, accessing JA finance, and improving multi-stakeholder processes. Published here is the Extended Summary; the full report will be available on request in the near future.
