Daemeter assisted Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry to develop principles, criteria and indicators (PCI) for monitoring the implementation of REDD+ safeguards.

Indonesia, home of the world's third largest area of tropical forests, is on the forefront of the development and trialling of policies, mechanisms and regulations that will support the implementation of REDD+ to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.

Daemeter supported Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry, as part of a program funded by GIZ and FORCLIME, in conducting a multi-stakeholder process to build a REDD+ safeguards information system, based on agreed principles, criteria and indicators (PCI) in line with Indonesia's commitment to UNFCCC. Two phases of work led to the provision of a PCI safeguards matrix for project and jurisdictional-based REDD+ activities.
