Daemeter is assisting RT-REDD to lay a foundation for refinining its project aims to reduce deforestation levels in Indonesia and prioritize specific geographies to focus on during the implementation phase
RT-REDD, a consortium of non-profit organisations, has been recently formed to look at how to reduce deforestation levels in critical rainforest countries, including Indonesia. For the project to be successful, it must partner effectively with provincial and district level government officials to support the project's smallholder and private sector engagements.
Daemeter, commissioned by Solidaridad as an RT-REDD partner, is assisting in conducting background research to lay a foundation for refining project aims and prioritize specific geographies in Indonesia to focus on during the implementation phase. The research will aim at setting priorities for engaging with one or more provinces and districts during project implementation and understanding how the market structure and political economy of fertilizer inhibits smallholder access to key input of productive and profitable high-yield palm oil cultivation.
